Stop typing. You’re lowering the IQ of the whole dash. 

In this instance. If we really must analyze Taylor Swift song right now, really:

Apparently this boy is trying to bad mouth her by telling people that she is obsessive and crazy (we will hold our judgement here, as it is not the focus). 

She responds, she retaliates, by saying she will tell her friends that he is gay. 

Clearly she feels insulted by what he is saying about her. Her solution is to say he’s gay. She is using gay as an insult. She might literally mean that she is telling people that he is homosexual, sure.

Using the word with the correct definition does not mean that you are not using it as an insult.

We are in a ridiculously pathetic place if people honestly think it’s okay for her to say this just because she actually meant homosexual. 

She means gay as an insult. She may not be subbing the word gay in for “stupid,” as it is commonly misused, but she is still insulting him by using it.
